What screenshot analysis can see

The image analysis looks at the visible content you intentionally upload, including wording, layout, claims, contact details, payment requests, and other contextual clues that can be extracted from the image.

What an image cannot prove

A screenshot cannot independently prove the identity of a sender, company, account, phone number, or website. A copied logo or realistic interface can still be part of an impersonation attempt.

Privacy and retention

Raw image evidence is uploaded to a private storage location for analysis. LEGITTAP is designed to remove successful image evidence after analysis and clean up abandoned uploads on a short retention schedule.

What makes a screenshot useful for verification

A useful screenshot shows the context that matters: the sender name or address when appropriate, the wording of the request, visible links or domains, payment instructions, job duties, and any warning or error message. Crop out unrelated private information when it is not needed. The image can help identify inconsistencies, pressure tactics, copied branding, suspicious contact details, or requests that do not fit a normal business process, but it cannot establish who actually controls the account shown in the image.

Cross-check the image outside the conversation

If a screenshot appears to come from a bank, employer, marketplace, delivery company, or government agency, verify the underlying claim through a source you locate yourself. Open the official app, type the known website address directly, or contact the organization using published information. A polished screenshot can be fabricated or altered, and a real screenshot can still show a compromised account. Treat the image as evidence to investigate rather than proof by itself.

The current scanner accepts JPEG, PNG, and WebP images up to 8 MB.

Does it work from a phone browser?

Yes. The website flow is designed to use the browser’s native file or photo picker on mobile and desktop.

Does a realistic-looking screenshot mean the sender is legitimate?

No. Visual polish, logos, and familiar branding can be copied. Verify important claims through an independent official channel.
